Visual identities for food and lifestyle brands that feel like you

Sprouts Creative is an independent studio in Cape Town helping local restaurants, coffee roasters, artisan producers and neighbourhood shops build honest, personal brands. We handle the full chain — from strategy workshops and logo design to photography direction and short-form video for Instagram and TikTok.

If your current visuals don't match the quality of what you make, let's talk. We keep things casual and practical.

How a local coffee roaster rebranded without losing its regulars

What we do

Small teams don't need a big agency. They need someone who understands the pace of a working kitchen or a busy shop floor.

  • Brand strategy workshops

Half-day sessions to define your voice, audience and visual direction before any design work starts.

  • Logo and packaging design

Marks and labels that work across coffee bags, jars, boxes and menus without losing character.

  • Content and photography direction

Monthly content calendars, styled shoots and short-form video edits built around your real products and workspace.

Also for the community

Monthly portfolio reviews for junior designers and a two-day branding intensive for business owners who want to understand the process before commissioning work.

What working with us actually changes

We are not here to make things look busy. We are here to make your brand look like the people behind it, so customers feel the difference before they even taste the product.

A brand that feels like your shop, not a franchise

We start with who you are and who your regulars are. The identity we build together uses your story, your space, and your product, so it never looks like a template dropped onto a small business.

Packaging that earns a second look on the shelf

Whether it is coffee bags, sauce bottles, or bakery boxes, we design labels that work in real retail settings. The goal is simple: someone should pick it up because it looks honest, not loud.

A content rhythm you can actually keep up with

We build monthly calendars around your real schedule, not a fantasy of daily shoots. That means photos of your morning bake, a short clip of the roaster running, and posts that go out without you chasing us.

Photography direction that captures the craft

We do not stage fake perfection. We direct shoots around natural light, real hands at work, and the textures of your product, so the images feel like a window into your kitchen rather than an ad.

Short-form video that fits the feed, not the agency reel

We edit for Instagram and TikTok with the pace and tone that suits your audience. No overproduced transitions, just clear, warm clips that show what makes your product worth trying.

A clear process before you commit to anything

You will know what we are doing, why we are doing it, and what it will take before we start. That includes our two-day branding intensive for owners who want to understand the creative side before commissioning work.

Questions we hear before a project starts

Some of the things clients ask when they first reach out. If yours isn't here, that's fine — a casual conversation usually covers it.

Do you work with brands outside Cape Town?

Yes. Most of our clients are in the city, but we regularly work with food producers and shops in other parts of the country. Brand strategy and design work happens over video calls, and we plan photography and content shoots around your location. The main thing is that we get to see your product and space properly before we start.

What does a typical first project look like?

It depends on where you are. A brand identity usually starts with a strategy workshop where we talk through your customers, your story, and what makes your product different. From there we move into logo concepts, packaging, and the visual guidelines you'll use day to day. If you need content too, we plan that after the identity is in place so the photos and videos actually match the brand.

How long does a branding project take?

A focused identity project usually takes four to six weeks from the first workshop to final files. That includes time for you to review concepts and give feedback. If we're also producing a photoshoot or a batch of social content, expect another two to three weeks on top. We keep the timeline realistic so you're not waiting months for something you need soon.

We don't have an in-house marketing team. Is that a problem?

Not at all. Most of our clients are in that position. We build identities and content systems that are simple enough for you or a part-time assistant to run with. You'll get clear guidelines, ready-to-use templates, and a content calendar that doesn't assume you have a full marketing department behind it.

What if we already have a logo we like?

That's fine. Sometimes a logo just needs a refresh rather than a full redesign. We can work with what you have, clean it up, and build the rest of the system around it. The goal is to make your visuals feel consistent, not to throw away everything you've built.

How do we get started?

Send us a note through the contact page and tell us a bit about your brand. We'll set up a casual call to talk through where you are and what you need. No pressure, no lengthy proposal — just a conversation to see if we're a good fit. If you're curious about how we think about the work, you can also read about our approach on the support page.
